Gilles Laguesse and Pierre Proesmans join DALDEWOLF with their team

DALDEWOLF welcomes Gilles Laguesse and Pierre Proesmans, two new partners experts in banking and finance, and their team, which now consists of five lawyers in total. With the arrival of these two renowned specialists, DALDEWOLF now has the necessary resources to meet the legal needs of its clients in the areas of banking regulation, payment and investment services, credit law, fintech law, participatory finance law, and banking and financial compliance law.

The expertise in banking and finance law is essential to the legal needs of Belgian and European banking and finance companies, covering both their day-to-day operations and their broader strategic objectives. The new partners have a solid background in banking and finance and deal daily with Belgian and international clients such as credit institutions (private and retail banks), insurance companies, asset managers, investment funds and investment services intermediaries, or companies active in crypto-assets and fintechs.

Gilles Laguesse and Pierre Proesmans’ knowledge of banking and financial regulations covers in particular regulations relating to MiFID, MiFIR, AML, ESG, MAD, UCITS, AIFM, regulated and unregulated credit, and is recognised by their peers and within the banking industry. Their litigation experience is also a key asset for the firm.

Patrick De Wolf, Managing Partner of DALDEWOLF, welcomed the new team: “I am delighted to have Gilles and Pierre as partners and look forward to working with them and their team. Their arrival is an additional asset for our law firm and I am convinced that they will bring, in addition to their technical expertise, ideas and energy essential to our development.

We are pleased,” said Gilles Laguesse, “to join a leading interdisciplinary firm with a strong international reputation and which shares our professional values, which include excellence, pragmatism and rigour. ” The lawyer, who is a specialist in banking and credit law as well as in seizure and enforcement law, teaches private law at ICHEC Brussels School of Management and is the author of numerous scientific publications. He also distinguishes himself as a practitioner of financial law and banking litigation and arbitration.

Pierre Proesmans added: “DALDEWOLF is a firm known for developing a positive and inclusive working environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated. We are excited about the prospect of expanding the services we can offer our clients by joining DALDEWOLF. I am thinking in particular of corporate finance and company law transactions.” As an expert in banking and finance law, he is particularly well versed in the practice of banking and finance regulatory and compliance law. He is also an author of scientific publications and publishes an annual barometer of banking law case law with his partner.

Both are long-time friends and maintain a blog dedicated to their practices: www.bankinglaw.be

DALDEWOLF is delighted with the arrival of this new team and the extension of its legal services to the banking and financial services sector. The arrival of these two experts is in line with the firm’s commitment to excellence and confirms its continued growth as one of the leading genuinely independent law firms in Brussels.
