On 19 June Carole Maczkovics, partner in European law, competition and regulation, spoke at our last Breakfast about State aid control. The presentation answered the question whether State aid control can be used as an efficient tool to promote competition. It covered the concept of State aid and its legitimacy, as well as national and European State aid law enforcement, focusing in particular on the recent judgment of the Brussels Court of first instance in the Bruxelles-Propreté case. The Breakfast was held at the Cercle de Lorraine and the audience, from Belgian and international background, represented various types of businesses. That allowed for an interesting discussion after the presentation. We would like to thank all participants for their contributions representing various perspectives!
