Date : 31/03/2020
Time : 9:00 > 10:30
Topic: COVID-19 and Competition Law | Competition
Speaker: Pierre GOFFINET
What are the practical implications for your business of the various procedural and substantial measures adopted by the EU Commission, the national competition authorities, the national governments and the different courts? In a first webinar that will take place on Tuesday 31 March at 9 AM, Pierre GOFFINET will respond to the following questions:
- What are the different procedural measures adopted by the competition authorities and courts?
- What is the impact of the joint statement of the European Competition Network (ECN) on application of competition law during the COVID-19 crisis?
- What can I do under competition law as a retailer or as a supplier of essential goods in order to ensure the supply and fair distribution of scarce products to all consumers?
Pierre will give an insight on the different hot topics such as exchange of information, maximum resale prices, State compulsion and crisis cartels. A parallel reasoning will also be made with the law applicable in the electricity industry which shows characteristics that are similar to the current food-retail industry, i.e. (i) supply and demand constantly required to be equal and (ii) difficulties to stock the relevant goods.
